Yeah...the weekend is here!
I'm looking forward to a pleasant weekend. My nephew, Thomas, is playing in the Georgia Open golf tournament this weekend so that gives the family something exciting to think about. Not a lot going on today, dinner plans with good friends and a little museum tour in the early evening will be relaxing and fun. We've all booked a cruise from Lisbon to Barcelona in September, so we'll put our heads together and try to map out a few details for that excursion. I've never been to Lisbon but enjoyed a very short visit to Barcelona years ago. All the Gaudi architecture and influence makes that city truly unique. This year, we are hoping to go up to the Dali Museum in Figueres -- although we have only one day in Barcelona and it's about a 90 minute trek to Figueres on the Express Train. But I don't want to get that close and not see it. Anyone know any blog sites from Barcelona??
Tomorrow I get to see my favorite little guy and help him find a bookbag for first grade. He is so excited. Remember first grade...I barely can. My teacher was Mrs. Rose and she looked just like the perfect grandmother -- tight, overpermed hair, a print dress, corrective looking shoes, a nice big welcoming lap -- kind of like Eleanor Roosevelt from the neck down. My best friend was Bruce and he became my best friend the day he pushed the little boy in the water line who spit a mouthful of water on me. How do you go from the first grade to your fifties in a blink?
Have a good weekend everyone. I'm hopeful my postcard will arrive today.

Ha, you have a lot more memory of first grade than I do. What I know about my first grade is I went to 5 different first grade schools, none within 250 miles of the other and all with in one school year. Air Force. They don't do that anymore.
