My Postcard is in the Mail!

Usually I don't participate in blogging events -- there are too many and I don't have that much time. But, when Meeta over at What's for Lunch Honey announced her postcard event, I thought too perfect to bypass. First, it's  neat to send someone a little piece of yourself....you select and buy the postcard and you actually write a message. In this electronic age, that's immensely appealing.

postcard054.jpgThis is the postcard selected for my recipient. Actually, as you can see, it's more a piece of art. When in California recently, I discovered that one of my favorite artists, Maryjo Koch, makes her home in the Santa Cruz mountains. Unfortunately, there wasn't time to visit her studio, but I did pick up a few of her postcards (with no idea what I would do with them). Is that karma or what? She finds old flea market postcards and then does little doodles and drawings on them. What a fantastic idea...and now it's off to one of my very favorite food bloggers. A lady whose life philosophy is as inspiring as her food.

That's a gorgeous postcard, Janice! And you're right, actually penning a message is nice for a change!

What a fun post card! Actual pen to paper does add something extra. I really liked wondering who I would get - I've discovered another blog now! And now I wonder who's sending me one. Anticipation is fun.

I agree...this is fun and exciting as you wait for the mail. Written communication...pen to paper...is such a lost art.

You find some really unique art. How do you discover these things --- during travels -- in the Atlanta area? Just curious.

Hi Lucy - hope you are continuing to get better. What a bummer. -- That's a loaded question re where I find art and would probably have all my friends and family laughing on the floor. I am constantly on the look out for anything I think is neat and that's a fairly broad range. I found these cards and some other books that I didn't know Maryjo Koch had done -- I'll post about the books, too.

First WOW! Nice card! Second you are just as sentimental as me! I love postcards for all the reasons you mentioned. That is why I came up with this event. I thank you for taking part and feel honored that you decided to join the BPW. I do hope to see you around again!

Hi Meeta, Sally, Kat, Ellie, Pamela -- great to have new visitors who comment!! Isn't Meeta's postcard idea fun? We should do it at least a few times a year. I'm hoping my card arrives today.....

Janice,

Thank you so much! I finally received my postcard last week and was absolutely delighted. From the beautiful Audrey Hepburn stamps to you cute little sentence on the envelope to the postcard itself. What a treat! And may I compliment you on your penmanship.

You're one of the very first bloggers that I met and I enjoy reading your blog. You seem like a dear, warm person. I blogged about your postcard today so you may want to check it out.

All my best!
