I'm Delirious with Joy!

Woohoo! Oh happy day! Life is good. . .I sold the houseboat AND the seadoo! Well, I think I have -- should get the check for both tomorrow. I've had this houseboat -- 67' Stardust Cruiser -- and Seadoo for five years and really enjoyed them for a while. But, life changes and all of a sudden I found myself going up there only once or twice a month (last summer) and then 2 or 3 times the entire season (this summer). Hard to justify the expense of dockage and upkeep with that. Plus, fill that sucker up and you're sick for a month, plus broke. You know what they say about B.O.A.T. -- "bring out another thousand". So true. Everytime I turnaround there is something else mechanical that needs to be done. After tomorrow, not my problem.

We've been swamped at work this week. . .lots of pitches for new business this time of year. Very stressful for the pitchmeister -- what do we put on all these empty powerpoint pages???? When I work on powerpoint slides, I'm always reminded of how we did this in the "old days" -- hours of prep time and then turn it over to the ad agency and hours and hundreds of dollars later (sometimes thousands), we'd have slides. If you had to change anything, you were dead. Now, we do it all ourselves and can change stuff in the taxi on the way to the pitch. Of course, we still get the art director to set the template and give us the "look".

Now that I might have a little cash (big smile on face), I think I'll head back down to Serenbe. I can be so impulsive sometimes, but I'm really feeling good about that place and since I have no stomach for the stock market, might be a good place to park some cash. You remember what Scarlett's daddy said about land. . .I don't remember the words exactly, but something about "holdin' on to Tara" and "you'd always have the land." I've not been as lucky with stocks -- rode Sprint, Delta, and MCI right down to the bottom. Painful for a hard workin' gal.

Art -- I am working on this section -- it's just taking a while. It will be fun to share info about artists whose work I admire and appreciate. One of my favorite emerging artists is Monica Cook. I've known Monica since she was an infant and I'm so enjoying watching her progress in New York. You can see some of her work at www.monicacookart.com

I'm keeping little Avery this weekend. . .at two and a half, she's got the concept of "let's go shopping" down fine! Believe me when I tell you I am putty in her hands.

Congratulations on your new found wealth. I hear ya on the rollercoaster ride on some stocks. We are dabbling on some unknowns at the moment too. Just think about all those new fun gadgets you can buy now. New Bernina and all those attachments! Bread machine, possible scrapbooking equipment.. i'm jealous. As they say the best tool in the tool box is your checkbook.

I'm really trying to be a good girl and invest it in something other than more stuff to do. I'll have to photo my "play" area at home where I sew and scrap and share it with you -- it's pathetic. I'd never show all the drawers and cabinets of unfinished projects. Maybe I need therapy.

Hey J... we have a 12' inflatable boat, wanna race? Hehehe

I can't wait to see your pictures of your play room. It's going to be bigger than my entire life! LOL

Congrats on the sale, I hear you on fuel, eeks. Last time we filled up Tiny it was $600.

I think you should buy a quilt shop, at least 7,000 bolts of fabric. Rolling semi setup. Come see me. :)

You're funny. I did get the cashier's check yesterday, so now I'm just trying to keep the brakes on re Serenbe. Hey, I have thought a lot about a monogramming shop when I retire -- something neat to putter with. I saw one in Carmel, CA (of all places!) and it was covered up with folks. They stocked tons of blanks, and then you just ordered what you wanted.
